For new writers...
Hi! My name is Elizabeth Hauser, and I'm a new writer. I'm also a nurse in my "day job". I expect writing will be my full time job someday. I'm calling all new writers (and not-so-new writers, too) of fiction or non-fiction, any subject or genre. Let's help each other with an online reading and critiquing group. Ideally, groups should be limited to four or five members, so as readership grows and newcomers want to join a writing group, we will form "satellite groups", so everyone can participate, but each group will be small enough to give sufficient time and attention to each writer. We can make our own rules about our groups, such as whether or not someone can ask to change groups if the environment or "flavor" of the group isn't a good fit. Also, etiquette rules will need to be developed. I am very new to this. I'm open to your ideas. In fact, ideas is what this site is all about.
Let's share story ideas, your written work in our groups...or just share it for everyone to look at. This will be a great place to showcase your best efforts. Let's share books we've read. Authors must be well read to write well, and we can all benefit from your book reviews. In fact, book reviews may be a whole page on this site. Let's hear what you like to read...and why. What you like to read may not be what you feel capable or interested in writing about. One of us is bound to be a writer who would like to hear from you, their audience, about what you like and want in stories.
